The Inspiring Story of a Multi-Talented Marathon Queen

There’re a lot of marathons — suddenly — happening in India for a few years. Everyone is running; minus me. I kind of like walking more but that’s a topic for another blog post that is coming soon. I’ve always been curious to learn more about this sport and after a little research, I found this information.

The name marathon comes from the legend of Pheidippides, the Greek messenger. The legend states that he was sent from the battlefield of Marathon to Athens to announce that the Persians had been defeated in the Battle of Marathon which took place in circa 490 BC. It’s said that he ran the entire distance without stopping and burst into the assembly, exclaiming — WE’VE WON — before collapsing and dying.

And see the magic of the universe, I found a school friend who’s active in running these marathons. This is the Law of Attraction at the best.

Shweta Kamath is one woman who I know who can be easily coined as Queen of Marathons. At least, I know only one who does this.

Everyone now and then, I get to see her pictures on our school WhatsApp group. I don’t know where she gets the energy to do all of this, regularly. I can’t even run for a few minutes and there she runs for 10 km straight.

But, this isn’t it.

Her family is equally active in participating in marathons. Her husband and son are yet another super-hero I know.

I think they’re blessed. Running is not an easy task.

Well, neither is writing a blog post!

Shweta is not only a marathon hero but an extraordinary cook too. She always delights us with her delicious recipes; especially cakes. If you haven’t tasted her cake, you haven’t tasted life.

Some people are blessed with multiple talents, and she’s one of those — fitness freak, cook, wife, mother, good human, and a subject for my blog post.

For me, a marathon is equal to Shweta but she’s equal to so much.
