A recent Facebook post from my friend Archis caught my attention. His brother Mayank Bhagwat has done something innovative for Ganesh Festival 2018. He has given a heart-touching message about organ donation and how it can save multiple lives.
For those who don’t know what this festival is, it’s a 10-day Hindu festival celebrated across India dedicated to the LORD OF BEGINNINGS and DESTROYER OF OBSTACLES — Lord Ganesha.

Organ donation is the need of the hour. Here are the top five reasons why you should become an organ donor:
- Organ donation is an opportunity to help others: People who are on an organ waiting list typically have end-stage organ disease that significantly impacts their quality of life and maybe near the end of their life. Receiving an organ can become a life-changing event for these people.
- The organ waiting list continues to grow: Every day, there’re nearly thousands of people on the waiting list for an organ.
- One organ donor can help multiple people: One organ donor has the potential to save eight lives, save or improve as many as 60 lives, and enhance the eyesight of two.
- The world needs more organ donors: Millions across the world die each year. There’s a wide gap between the number of transplants awaited, and the organs available.
- Organ donation can be a rewarding and positive experience: It can help a family work through the grieving process and deal with their loss by knowing their loved one is helping save the lives of others.
Becoming a donor is quite easy! Information about organ donation is all over the internet. Although there is a lack of organ donors across the globe due to false religious beliefs, illogical reasoning, and half-baked information, this is what is required to help each other.

Organ donation is helping humanity. It’s about taking part in the message of the one who has created this universe for us.
Isn’t this what Lord Ganesha wants from us?
Ganesh and other festivals aren’t just about worshipping idols, playing loud music, bursting firecrackers, having fun, and meeting loved ones. It’s more than all of this. The core idea is to spread kindness, compassion, gratitude, and forgiveness.
Isn’t helping each other the real essence of a festival?
Mayank is doing a good job of spreading the message during this pious and auspicious festival. He’s not only innovative but also a messenger of love and humanity. I’m sure with such people around, the RENNAISSANCE OF PEACE is around the corner.
Godspeed.
