88 Pictures: The Life and Journey in a Animation Studio

animation studio

My life is extremely well as of now.  I work in the top animation studio in India. I’ve got a dream job and love what I do. I enjoy going to my workplace every day. This according to me is the sign of an adventurous and fulfilling life.

There’re reasons why I love my job and why my workplace is a great place to work with. Let’s peel the reasons layer by layer.

Like the clairvoyant Sanjaya gave a record of the battle of Mahabharata to King Dhritarashtra, I’m going to give you a record of my life and journey in an animation studio.

Introduction

The Indian animation industry includes traditional 2D animation, 3D animation, VFX for feature films. Hundreds of studios offer visual solutions but I work in is a revolutionary one.

88 Pictures offers end-to-end solutions in visual imagery and content production for feature films, TV series, and new-age digital content platforms.

The studio takes pride in its association with some of the best studios in the world. For our audiences, they present a collection of appealing characters, stories, and glimpses of enthralling worlds  — a promise of an unforgettable experience.

You must have heard that people leave managers, not companies. As per a survey, 75% of people quit their job to get away from their manager at some point in their career. Meaning, the number one reason why people quit their jobs is because of a bad manager.

But this isn’t the case with my studio. It’s not like that this is my first job. I’ve been working in the animation space since my youthhood. I’ve worked in several studios but this one is a class apart.

Karma

The studio has a unique mix of senior creative leaders who aren’t only the best in their art and craft but also fine humans. The work is their spline. We’ve different kinds of leadership in our team. This makes the studio a synergetic place to work in.

Leadership isn’t just about the job title a person has. It’s about the behaviors they display and the actions they inspire. It’s a skill, not a function, and the greatest leaders are the ones that recognize that and are always seeking to develop and grow.

I’m glad that we’ve great leaders in our animation studio. They help each other succeed to grow in their life holistically. They’re transparent.

A leader is a dealer of hope.

Napoleon Bonaparte

This is the only studio that does a leadership meeting every week to touch base with each other and decide policies for growth. Everyone has complete freedom of speech and expression.

This is also a good way to stay connected with each other regularly.

Dharma

Our leadership is like an orchestra guided by our visionary Founder & CEO, Milind Shinde. He’s an industry veteran and a visionary. He’s a humble man with a clear vision, huge heart, and zest for life in general.

One peculiar quality of our CEO is that he knows everyone who joins the studio. He interacts with almost everyone regularly. He loves to interact as he’s a people man and never lets go of any opportunity to meet with employees.

Under his leadership and wisdom, many employees like me carved out a great life for themselves. We’re able to dream and achieve those dreams.

A leader knows the way, goes the way and shows the way.

John Maxwell

We’ve got a warm and joyful work culture. We work and party harder. Work is worship for us and we strive for excellence with our team. Working hand-in-hand with an open mind is our culture and duty. It’s only because of this dedication we’ve marked a special place for us in the global animation scenario.

Moksha

Other than work we do invest in a lot of fun, intellectual and spiritual activities. We invest a lot of time, money, and energy in learning and development.

Employees are learning that learning will facilitate them to advance their careers. There’re more requests from generation X, Y, and Z employees to have learning opportunities on a variety of topics in an easily accessible manner like an online learning environment.

Many Indian employees quit organizations because of a lack of learning and development opportunities.

Huge organizations have started their initiatives to ensure that their employees are always on the top of their game. Some other mid-level or small organizations are on their way.

Our studio has a dedicated department to address the learning and development requirements.

Skill development is one part. Everything else is most important.

Milind Shinde

We’ve done something unprecedented to create a culture of learning. Based on the core disciples of breakthrough learning and ancient wisdom, a variety of creative, technical, soft skills training modules have been designed for the employees.

Unlimited fun is one of our organizational values.

Epilogue

I strongly feel that unlearning, learning, relearning are the way ahead in life if you’re looking for a fruitful, peaceful, worthy and joyful personal or professional life.

I’ve to be grateful to my employer that I’m able to live such a decent life at this stage of life.

I’ve weaved new dreams as I feel warm, safe, and comfortable in such a growing and supporting environment. I hope this is the studio I retire from.
