SEO Tips: Golden Rules to Follow

If you’ve got a website, it’s going to take time for it to become established on the internet and start attracting visitors.

However, there’re quite a few things you can do to speed up this process, helping your site get better search engine rankings and more traffic sooner. Here’re some SEO tips from my personal experience of blogging.

• Passive voice only 10%: The content becomes more readable and simple to understand when the language isn’t passive but active. Writing straight to the point is always the best way out. Google more about writing active sentences.
• No Consecutive sentences: Don’t have many sentences start from the same word. Use variety.
• Subheading: Categorize your content into subheadings. It’s much easier to analyze and read the content this way. Have different sizes for your subheadings and paragraphs.
• Short paragraphs: Always keep it short!
• Short sentences: People love simple grammar. No one has time to read long and complex sentences nowadays.
• Use transition words: Two sentences become a sentence, using transitions words or phrases that link sentences and paragraphs together smoothly so that there’re no abrupt jumps or breaks between ideas.
• Internal links: Embed links to your earlier content in your current content. This will keep the reader interested in your variety.
• External links: Embed external links to different sites for information people don’t already have.
• Keyword: Define a keyword that can be the central theme of your content.
• Keyword in the title and first paragraph: Always have your defined keyword in the title and your first paragraph.
• Same name for the title and featured image: Put the same name as your title in the feature image you use.
• Alternate image description: The alternate attribute provides alternative information for an image if a user for some reason cannot view it — because of a slow connection, or because of visual impairment. Don’t add a hyphen between words.
• Minimum 300 words post: The content should contain at least 300 words to rank well in the search engines. Long posts will rank more easily than short posts.
• Title width under 60 characters but not short: It’s one of the secret best practices.
• Short slug: Shortened links can be used to easily track and measure web traffic, clicks, marketing campaigns, and traffic sources.
• No stop words in slug: Say NO to stop words like in, or, etc. Google more about the slug.
• Limited use of the keyword: Don’t overdo it. Write for humans, not for the machines.
