11 Simple Ways To Find Your Life Purpose

Is it hard to find our life purpose?

There is no limit on the number of people whom we could help, or inspire, or support. There are many reasons why you may need to know your life purpose that also leads to a truly happy and meaningful life. But if you want to change all that and find your life purpose, here are the steps to follow.

  1. Explore the things you love: My parents always encouraged me to explore art and craft because I was interested in it. I am a people man and like networking, so I keep exploring new ways to connect with people, especially through community service.
  2. Find what excites you: As a child, I was always interested in art and craft. I liked cartoon films. As I grew up, the inclination towards computer graphics was increasing and I started a career in that industry after my graduation. I am 38 now but art and craft still excited me. Is there anything that touches you so deeply that it drives you? Often, a powerful purpose can come from powerful inclination.
  3. Qualities you enjoy expressing the most in the world: I enjoy expressing compassion, gratitude, and kindness with a blend of creativity in the world. I really enjoy doing community service and sharing whatever I have. Service to humanity had become one of my powerful purposes.
  4. Find out what you are willing to sacrifice: I took a 4-year long sabbatical to explore myself and my purpose on this planet. I had no monetary income during this time but I had a lot of time. I decided to share this time as a sacrifice to this world. When you find something that you are willing to sacrifice a lot for, you know that you’ve found your purpose.
  5. Listen to the whisper of the heart: I am very clear in life that I want to live a simple and unstressful life. I never bothered about other’s say and always followed my heart, since childhood. I did whatever I wanted and planned it that way. Every one of us can plan according to his or her need. If you don’t follow your heart—and I know it’s not always possbile—you’ll never be able to find your life purpose.
  6. Volunteer: When I was lost, I remembered a quote from Mahatma Gandhi. He believed that if you’re lost, you can find yourself by losing yourself n the service of others. During my sabbatical, I did a lot of volunteer work that helped me clarify my life purpose. I met a lot of people from different walks of life and this helped me explore different areas of life that weren’t possible before.
  7. Do what you love: And how do you apply this passion to your purpose? To find your purpose, you need to figure out how you can best use your passions and skills to achieve your unique goals and solve your unique problems.
  8. Think about the moments that brought you the greatest joy in your life: These moments might be a clue to a powerful life purpose. Close your eyes, go back and think hard.
  9. Make time for yourself: Nothing will work if you don’t have time for yourself. You have to invest in yourself if you want the benefits. Plan a short or long sabbatical as per your limitations and do stuff that you want to do. Go out and play.
  10. Keep the child inside you live: Remember the things you did as a child? I sued to draw and make puppets the whole day. The art and craft are still my passion. Recollect those memories. Your life purpose may be hidden in those sweet memories. Never kill the child inside you.
  11. Take external guidance: If you’re not able to find your life purpose, you can also take guidance from professionals who can help you. You can reach out to a certified psychological counselor or your spiritual master if any. Even a close friend may be able to help you find your life purpose. Don’t feel shy—just ask help if you need it.

Finding your life purpose is a life-long journey. It’s okay to take it one step at a time. It’s normal to pause and reevaluate regularly. And it’s okay to feel overwhelmed. Nothing worth doing is easy, and this will not always be easy.

You may encounter frustrations and challenges along the way. Some days, you’ll throw your hands up in the air in defeat. But then remember DON’T GIVE UP!
